Sihlwald Station Infrastructure

Client:

Sihltal Zürich Uetliberg Bahn (SZU)

Our task:

Modernization

RUBI Bahntechnik is involved in this project in the field of railway infrastructure, contributing to the forward-looking development of Sihlwald station and the associated track infrastructure on the SZU line.

The project aims to adapt the existing station to current operational requirements while improving access to the Wildnispark Zürich from a public transport perspective. The measures support optimized operational management and help reduce travel times, as well as further develop the spatial connection to visitor operations.

In the vicinity of Sihlwald station, the operational context is defined by the combination of regular timetable service on line S4 and the historic Zürcher Museums-Bahn (ZMB). S4 trains run hourly, reverse at the terminus, and continue the return journey to Zurich as a push-pull train. This operational form is maintained during the adaptations and is an integral part of the project considerations.

Within the scope of the project, RUBI Bahntechnik provides professional expertise in coordinating and technically supporting the infrastructure measures. This includes collaboration with SZU, the planning partners involved, and other specialist companies to meet requirements for operation, safety, and sustainable use.

The project exemplifies our competence in supporting complex railway infrastructure projects, where technical, operational, and spatial aspects are harmonized.
